UIDAI lets users of Aadhaar cardsto change their address with no need for documentation. Aadhaar cardholders could alter their address even if they didn't provide proof of identity.

New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India has temporarily halted a vital facility which permits you to alter your Aadhaar card's address without a identity proof.

UIDAI lets people with Aadhaar cards to change their address with no need for any paperwork. Aadhaar card holders can alter their address if they are able to consent to the authentication for the verification of address. An address verifier could be a close friend, relative, landlord or family member who allows the Aadhaar card owner to utilize their address as proof.

UIDAI has now halted this feature. UIDAI responded to an Aadhaar Card card holder via Twitter by announcing that the ability to update the address on Aadhaar Card through an Address Validation Letter has been discontinued. UIDAI has requested Aadhaar issuers to remind the Aadhaar Issuers to inform the user to update their address using a accepted PoA document.

Dear Residents: The Affirmation of Address Validation Letter service has been removed until further notice. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list https://t.co/BeqUA0pkqL
